This short course follows on from the New Opportunities course and is specifically designed to support 16-18 years olds to identify their next steps towards employment and/or Further Education. It will provide students with opportunities to develop core transferable skills such as teamwork and communication along with identifying and addressing individual barriers to learning.

More information

This course has various start dates throughout the year, and lasts for 24 weeks (2 terms).

During the course, students will:

  • Explore personal strengths and barriers and develop skills that can be transferable in education and the workplace
  • Develop an understanding of the workplace including areas such as timekeeping, appearance, behaviors, and developing communication skills.
  • Take part in teamwork activities
  • Develop formal maths and English skills – GCSE or Functional Skills

You will build a portfolio of work which shows what you have achieved throughout the course and you will also receive regular, informal reviews.
